During Initial Contact for appointments we will ask you to provide your contact information, eg., name, phone number, e-mail address and struggle being experienced. it will help us know whether we can meet your needs or whether we need to refer you to a partner organization or a professional or agency that has the specialized expertise that we do not possess. Either way, we will do our best to either provide or arrange for the care that you need.
You’ll also be asked to complete an Intake Package prior to the Initial Session. This includes a Personal Data Inventory (PDI) and acknowledgement forms.
Please know that our staff is completely volunteer and inquiries after 12:00pm may not be responded to until the following morning.
Initial Session
During the Initial Session, your struggle will be further gauged, data is gathered, and comfort, hope and initial wisdom will be shared from God’s word.
Afterwards, after prayer and thought, a Primary Counselor and Co-counselor will be assigned to walk with you through your Resolution Session(s). Your primary counselor will then contact you to schedule an appointment time.
Resolution Session
At the appointed time, you will come to WEST Center and we will begin walking with you on your path of sanctification. Your counselor will seek to use God’s leading in applying Biblical principles to help you please God and as a result live in the victory Christ has provided over the struggles depriving you of the peace and joy God has promised in the Bible to those who love Jesus Christ. During your counseling, your counselor will concentrate in three areas:
Giving Hope
God says the Bible is sufficient to handle the problems of life, and your counselor is equipped to come along side you to help you find those answers in the Bible. You can receive great hope and encouragement when you discover that God has provided answers to your problems in the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17 and 2 Peter 1:3).
Change
As much as a person may want his circumstances to change, the reality is that a change in circumstances may not always be possible, nor does God promise to change our circumstances. In counseling, your counselor will help you see from the Bible how your thinking and goals should change. The Bible says that when our prayers, thinking and actions are pleasing to God, then we experience the peace of God (Ephesians 4:22-24 and Philippians 4:6-9).
Practice
The Bible promises blessings if we prove to be doers of God’s word and not merely hearers of the Word. Therefore, your counselor will assign you weekly assignments designed to give you help and hope in making the Scriptures practical to your specific challenges. These assignments are designed to establish new God-pleasing habits of thinking and behavior that result in the blessings promised by God (James
1:22-25; Romans 2:9-10).
