Isaiah 61:3 says, “…that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” As a disciple of Jesus, we are called to be like a mighty oak tree – planted and rooted for His glory! The beautiful design of an oak tree is that it starts as an acorn and then over time becomes a mighty oak that produces and creates more mighty oaks. This summer, Equip-U is centered around this idea of an oak tree – our heart for the summer is to see “oak trees” all around us for the glory of God!

What is Equip-U?

Equip-U is a summer ministry at WHBC that provides a place for fellowship and growing in your walk with Jesus. On Wednesday nights throughout the summer we  meet for dinner at 5:30pm followed by classes at 6:15pm. Dinner is available each week for $5/person or $15/family in the WHBC Heritage Room. This summer we have 5 classes to choose from. Head online to get complete class details and to register today!

Classes

Acorns to Oaks | Hosted by Various Speakers
Disciplemaking is at the heart of who we are at WHBC. Disciplemaking is a process of growing as a disciple which leads to investing in others for the purpose of making more disciples. This class will hit on our identity in Christ, intimacy walking with Jesus, instruction laid out in Scripture, and then impact for the Kingdom – both pouring into believers and reaching out to unbelievers.

Flourishing Oaks | Hosted by Dawne Douthit & WHBC Ladies Ministry
This women’s only class led by WHBC’s Ladies Ministry will dig into a study on the Sermon on the Mount – pointing you to flourish in your walk with Jesus. Come and learn from Jesus, just as His disciples did. This class will navigate through Matthew 5-7 as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to think differently about what it means to be a follower of Jesus. (Book available for $5 thru WHBC)

Mighty Oaks | Hosted by Don Eade
The importance of biblical manhood cannot be understated. Men and the significance of their influence are under attack. Our families, church, and society need men who follow godly principles as they lead. This men’s only Equip-U class will search out and give clarity to your personal walk with God, discovering God’s will personally and for your family, stewardship of time and resources, handling change, and relationships chosen by God that we choose. Guys in this class will work together to help each other build friendships and fellowship that will deepen their personal, spiritual, and family lives.

Faithful Oaks | Hosted by Greg & KeriAnn Knupp
Maybe you feel more like a Weeping Willow than a mighty Oak. This class will dive into walking with a faithful God when a loved one is wayward. It will focus on wayward children, but will cover wayward spouses, parents, etc. The class will include a mix of testimonies, Bible study, prayer time, podcasts, and discussion of Dave Harvey and Paul Gilbert’s book, Letting Go: Rugged Love for Wayward Souls. (Book available for $5 thru WHBC)

Cultivating Oaks | Hosted by John & Melanie Gossett and Drew & Emily Earnhart
To cultivate means “to foster the growth of, or to prepare and work on.” What does it look like to cultivate spiritual formation in the house? Through the study of Justin Whitmel Earley’s book, Habits of the Household – we will look at disciplemaking in the family through practicing the story of God in everyday family rhythms. We become our habits. And our kids become us. This is why carefully choosing the habits of our household is one of the most significant things we can do for our children’s spiritual formation. (Book available for $5 thru WHBC)
