YouVersion, Names of Jesus For Advent
Day 1 Alpha and Omega:
We praise God that in His kindness, He gave us Jesus to be all that we need, having been there from the beginning, as part of God’s plan for the salvation of the world.
Day 2 Lamb of God:
When we consider Jesus as the Lamb of God, we understand the deep symbolism of sacrifice. In the Old Testament, a sacrifice was made in order to please God, to make things right with Him. This was a significant act of worship to God. In the story of the Exodus, the lamb played a crucial part in God saving His people through their sacrificing a lamb and painting the lamb (or goat’s) blood on the doorpost of their house. This would save them. A lamb without blemish. When we look to Christ, we see Him as the ultimate fulfillment of sacrifice. A lamb without blemish and free from accusation, Jesus took upon Himself the punishment that belongs to us. Jesus is the ultimate end to God’s plan for the salvation of the world.
In Revelation 5:9, we see the living creatures and elders fall before the Lamb because He purchased all of the people with His blood. We thank God for Jesus, the Lamb of God.
