Brother Scott’s message on January 21st was primarily on ‘catching fish’, to catch people who are spiritually dead and give them life through the message of Jesus Christ.

There were some points that I think apply to our ministry of the PrayerLine. Brother Scott taught us that we have to ‘cast our net’ where the Lord tells us to cast. “It’s easy for us to do the things we’ve always done, and get into a program, a pattern, and not follow what the Lord is teaching.” This is true in how we witness to unbelievers, and it is true in how we pray and how I facilitate the PrayerLine. “That is the temptation that we have. We get into our techniques, and our patterns. And we think this is all we have to do. This is the way we do [he said ‘church’ here, but I am inserting ‘the PrayerLine’].”

Bro. Scott went on to say, “You can’t follow a pattern. You’ve got to follow a Person. Be so close to Him that you understand where He is working. That is where you want to be.” For his examples, Bro. Scott took us to Matthew 8-9, where 10 healings took place, and they were not all the same. Sometimes we put ourselves on “cruise control and we miss out on where the Lord is working… we don’t want to coast.” We need a dependence on and obedience to Jesus!
